Extended Service Set Identifier (IEEE 802.11 wireless networking).  This is your network name.

Wi-Fi

Is a common wireless internet access function that is built into almost all laptops and the majority of smart phones such as the Apple iPhone.

Wi-Fi is another name for IEEE 802.11, a term commonly coined by the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA).

The nature of a Wi-Fi service is that coverage can be impacted by many environmental factors.  Weather, buildings, other wireless devices operating in the vicinity are examples of things that can impact your coverage.  To assist, we show coverage maps online that give guidelines to the service experience that could be expected within a coverage area. 

In summary, if you can connect to the ESSID and you have good signal strength you can utilise the service.  If this is not available, then you are not in a coverage zone.
